The Role – Software Engineer

NetSuite ERP engineers do more than writing code. We become specialists in our business domain and take the time to deeply understand our customers’ goals. We own the design of our product, bringing questions and ideas to the table and analyzing them. We develop greenfield code as well as maintain a powerful legacy codebase for tens of thousands of customers.

So, are you thinking about a new role? We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our team in Barcelona, Spain. Our procurement team builds the solutions that advance supply-chain management and streamline processes for customer management of supplies, invoices, and payments. While this may sound simple, our customers’ needs vary widely, and our code base is complex. The NetSuite solution is written in Java, TypeScript and React with Oracle DB as the main persistence layer. In this role, you will have plenty of opportunities and room to innovate, become a better engineer, and an engineering leader. We know, it's exciting!

This role is for someone who wants to be involved with all phases of the development process: specification, design, architecture, testing, and maintenance. We'd like you to be passionate about clean code, quality, and SOLID principles. As you will have prior work experience, you can efficiently partner with quality engineers, guide and mentor junior engineers, and assist in setting code review practices for the team. If you want to work in an agile environment with continuous integration, pair programming and TDD practices, our team would be a phenomenal fit.

We encourage you to apply if you have most (or all!) of the following

• Computer Science degree or proven experience in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math).
• Experience with Java or any similar object-oriented programming language with the ability to write programs and apply OOP principles.
• Intimate understanding of modern web applications and extensive experience with database-driven applications.
• Enthusiastic about automated testing with a passion for shared quality!
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to abstract functional requirements and strong communication abilities in both technical and non-technical contexts in English.

Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will apply basic to intermediate knowledge of software architecture to perform software development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications or operating systems according to provided design specifications. Build enhancements within an existing software architecture and occasionally suggest improvements to the architecture.

Duties and tasks are standard with some variation; displays understanding of roles, processes and procedures. Performs moderately complex problem solving with assistance and guidance in understanding and applying company policies and processes. BS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 1 year of software engineering or related experience.
