Hotel Overview

The Fairmont Empress sits majestically at the cornerstone of Victoria's sparkling Inner Harbour.  Our 477 room hotel with beatiful turn of the century architecture compliments our warm and engaging service of turning moments into memories for our guests.

Summary of Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Spa Director, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Consistently offers professional, engaging and friendly service.
  • Promote a positive work environment for all colleagues.
  • Anticipate and respond to guests’ needs.
  • Coordinate training/onboarding of new Spa Attendants and Therapists.
  • Handle and resolve colleague inquiries and concerns.
  • Provide back-up support to Spa Attendants and Therapists to help achieve success in their respective roles.
  • Participate in performance evaluations.
  • Coordinate and schedule departmental meetings.
  • Update colleague communication boards.
  • Ensure all areas are properly cleaned, maintained and in safe working order for guests and colleagues.
  • Assist with coordination of spa related events.
  • Act as Spa MOD in absence of Spa Director.
  • Assist with handling of payroll duties.
  • Create weekly schedules for attendants and therapists.
  • Ensure prompt resolution of guest and colleague issues/concerns.
  • Ensure efficient staffing levels for attendants and therapists by monitoring guest requests, turnaways, occupancy levels and weekly work schedules.
  • Monitor appointments in Spa software, ensuring daily booking procedures are followed throughout the day.
  • Monitor and maintain supply levels of guest amenities.
  • Ensure budget guidelines are adhered to in regards to price, product usage and inventory controls.
  • Follow all safety procedures and practices.
  • Maintain a positive relationship with all departments in the hotel.
  • Follow all standards as stated in the employee handbook.
  • Implement monthly cleaning schedules for Massage & Body, Aesthetians and Spa Attendants.

Qualifications:

  • Previous Spa or Hospitality experience preferred.
  •  Bachelors’s Degree or Diploma an asset.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a luxury spa or hospitality.
  • Minimum 1 year supervisory experience.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations.
  • Desire to provide exceptional Guest experience.

Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to):

  • Constant standing and walking throughout shift

Visa Requirements: Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
