We are looking for a Sr. BI and Visualization Developer with a passion for data and analytics to join the Operations BI and Reporting team. The team provides business insights and partners with teams to help them discover actionable narratives, both by describing the past and predicting the future. We believe information enables success, and we are committed to providing clear insights for all levels of the organization.

 

The ideal candidate should have excellent visualization skills and knowledge of industry standard visualization tools along with strong quantitative, technical and communication skills.  In this role, the individual will possess the technical ability to identify and break down challenging technical problems in an agile, fluid environment; as well as design and implement solutions to those problems.  They will be results-driven and excited to use their expertise to help create an engineering environment that embodies the best development and testing practices for delivering a high-quality service.  Our team currently resides in Seattle and is expanding into Guadalajara, Mexico.  As a Sr. BI and Visualization developer, you will be working closing with OCI’s Operations Teams and Business Partners to define requirements, source and analyze data, and develop dashboards and visualizations to deliver actionable insights and recommendations to the business.  Combining visualization and analytical skills with business acumen will be key for success in this role.

In this role, you will\:

  • Lead the design, development, analysis, and delivery of a reporting and visual analytic platform for operational reporting
  • Develop and work with complex queries; using specialized business technologies and applications
  • Perform unit testing to validate accuracy and validity of reports and data integrity
  • Troubleshoot and resolve data integrity and performance issues
  • Create actionable business intelligence tools, dashboards, and reports
  • Provide production support of existing reports and processes
  • Works closely with intake and business teams to gather and define requirements, author concise functional/technical requirements and provide status and task updates
  • Work closely with our Guadalajara, Mexico operations team to define requirements for needed ETLs
  • Provide business / user training in BI reporting tools and reports as needed
  • Perform tasks and duties related to ad hoc report analysis, design, and processing
  • Communicate issues, risks, and concerns proactively to management and leads
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced Agile/Scrum environment
  • Engages OCI Operations community as a subject matter expert champion on best practices and visual design for business intelligence and analytics

Mandatory Qualifications\:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent professional experience
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in BI reporting to drive business insights
  • Demonstrated experience working directly with business leaders to identify and translate business requirements into technical and functional requirements
  • Ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Familiar with data visualization best practices.  Experience designing, developing, troubleshooting, and maintaining visualizations and reports
  • Experience with object-oriented and/or functional programming languages, such as Python, Java and Scala
  • Experienced development skills using Oracle PL/SQL, Oracle Cloud ADW, Oracle Cloud Big Data, and/or Oracle Analytics Cloud
  • Requires strong analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to synthesize complex elements into crisp and robust stories for audiences of variable technical levels
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail
  • Prior experience working in a collaborative team environment
  • Able to independently operate in an ambiguous and fast paced environment

Preferred Qualifications\:

  • Prior experience working for a large public cloud company (IaaS, SaaS) with global footprints
  • Prior experience developing BI and analytics for a technical operations team (event, incident, change, problem, support, capacity, and communications)
  • Prior data science experience in advance analytics leveraging machine learning, natural language processing, etc.
  • Successful history driving business teams toward a data driven culture
  • Prior experience developing and maintaining ETLs from various disparate systems
  • Confidently taking responsibility for the technical output of a project
  • Ability to quickly pick up new skills and learn on the job
  • Comfortably working with various stakeholders such as data scientists, architects and other developers
  • Experience mentoring other BI engineers and specialist

!|!Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will assist in defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, debugging or designing of software applications or operating systems. Provide technical leadership to other software developers. Specify, design and implement modest changes to existing software architecture to meet changing needs.

Duties and tasks are varied and complex needing independent judgment. Fully competent in own area of expertise. May have project lead role and or supervise lower level personnel. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of software engineering or related experience.
