About the Team
At Oracle Utilities (Opower) we have built the
most robust and effective energy efficiency and consumer behavioral
demand-response platforms available today. Collectively we have helped
users save 11 TWh of energy and $1B by delivering personalized, targeted
customer messages and insights via print, email, voice, and SMS.
We’re looking for a Software Engineer in Test to
assure quality for a core functionality of our Outbound Communications
platform\: building platforms and services that can support our Energy
Efficiency and Behavioral Demand-Response programs
Our Software Engineers in Test are embedded
alongside developers, using our latest in-house automation frameworks in Java,
JavaScript, and Ruby to create reliable and comprehensive automated tests.
Teams rely on flexible but standardized processes to ensure test coverage,
feature quality, and regression checks.
What You’ll Make Happen\:
· Develop and implement tests of our product suite,
including end-to-end Java services and JavaScript-based web application testing
· Develop automation in existing tools and frameworks,
and extend those tools and frameworks as necessary
· Execute both white- and black-box testing
· Create and execute test plans and test cases
based on requirements and user stories revolving around complex data scenarios
· Interact with product managers and developers to
clarify requirements and drive projects to on-time, seamless releases
· Work with the developers in one scrum team and
help with Dev tasks as well

root cause of a defect and helping to design a solution
Desired Qualifications\:
- 3 years’ experience in a fast-paced
application-development industry.
- Proficiency with our core programming
languages (Java / Javascript / Ruby) and comfort expanding your skills in
others.
- Ability to write automated test code and tools.
- Proficiency with a sql-flavored database for data mining,
test setup and troubleshooting purposes. Working knowledge of Docker a
plus.
- Strong background in testing RESTful web services in a
SaaS environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience in continuous integration environments, like
Jenkins
- Sufficient experience with distributed source code
control systems, like Git
- Working
knowledge of AngularJS, Rails or another MVC web framework
As a member of the technical/process QA division, you will develop quality standards, control methods and theories to be utilized during manufacturing, testing and inspection to access product quality. Develop standards and procedures to provide quality guidance methods.
Duties and tasks are varied and complex needing independent judgment. Fully competent in own area of expertise. May have project lead role and or supervise lower level personnel. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of software engineering or related experience.
