Our utility customers in the U.S. and abroad give us energy usage data for tens of millions of their customers, which we then analyze and aggregate using state-of-the-art tools such as Hadoop and Spark.

About the Team

The Data Raker team at Oracle is a cross-functional team of application developers, big data engineers, data scientists, and administrators who load and analyze the billions of utility data reads we receive each month. Our Software Engineers in Test work closely with other engineers in an agile development environment to test and develop automation for the data platform that supports everything from ETL and ingest pipelines to data science research and batch machine learning processes.

What You’ll Make Happen\:

• Rapidly become proficient with our cutting-edge technology stack and infrastructure.
• Drive the quality of the core data platform upon which all of our products are built.
• Design, develop, and deploy automated and manual tests based on requirements.
• Develop and implement tests for our ETL pipeline in Spark and Hadoop components.
• Develop automation within existing infrastructure and extend it to support new automation efforts using Docker.
• Interact with product management and developers to clarify requirements and identify and mitigate risks.
• Challenge your development team to think through corner cases and possible blind spots.

Desired Qualifications\:

• 3 years experience in a fast-paced application-development industry.
• Ability to write automated test code and tools.
• Proficiency with Object Oriented languages, especially Java.
• Proficiency with a scripting language, preferably Ruby.
• Experience testing ETL pipeline.
• Experience working with relational databases (Oracle, MySQL or similar)
• Strong experience with SOA and/or microservices.
• Experience with Docker is a plus.
• Experience with Hadoop/Spark and working knowledge of Elasticsearch are plusses.
• Proficient in and understand the value of manual, exploratory, and end-to-end testing when looking at software as an integrated system and from the consumer's point of view.
• A firm understanding of SQA methodologies, techniques, and approaches.
• Experience in SDLC practices of Scrum Agile.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience in continuous integration environments, like Jenkins.
• Sufficient comfort with Linux to set-up and maintain your own QA environment.
• Sufficient experience with distributed source code control systems, preferably Git.
