Job Description:
Sr. Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) will be based in China (Shenzhen/ Dongguan area) and will be a primary interface between the suppliers and Amazon internal teams located globally. In this position you will lead all aspects of the hardware quality for various NPI as well sustaining projects. With primary focus on the optical hardware, the SQE will play an important role in supplier development, supplier performance management and continuous improvement activities. SQE will act as a subject matter expert for camera module assemblies and lens manufacturing processes; and will guide the internal/external teams to assess risks and to ensure appropriate design and process controls are planned and implemented to mitigate such risks. Specific job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Amazon’s representatives at the suppliers, develop long term relationships with suppliers (includes contract manufacturers, tier-1 suppliers, and key tier-2/tier-3 suppliers).
• Lead problem solving efforts for any quality issues across the entire supply chain including mechanical, electrical and optical parts.
• Coordinate and verify quality standards to ensure they meet our requirements.
• Define validation plans for optical test equipment Image Quality, Calibration, etc.)
• Drive continuous quality improvements at the suppliers.
• Conduct frequency-based audits to track supplier’s progress towards building “best-in-class” manufacturing process/products.
• New part qualification via PPAP/FAI reviews and approvals.
• Plan and define Measurement Systems Analysis/Validation requirements.
• New supplier qualification from quality system & process control management perspective during NPI stage (Process Sign Off).
• Early engagement and able to react at timely manner/on-site support to mitigate potential risk impacts throughout entire product/part’s lifecycle.
• Establish and document best practices for quality management for Amazon Go.
