Summer Seasonal Positions - Host/Hostess for Restaurants

Job Description

All duties will be performed in accordance with The Fairmont Empress’ commitment to luxury service standards

RESPONSIBILITIES

•    Ensure smooth operation of the Restaurant
•    Greet and seat guests
•    Provide concierge service to guests 
•    Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of one (1) year recent experience (in the last five years) as a server or host in an “a la carte” dining setting in an upscale, high volume restaurant
  • "Serving It Right" and “Food Safe” Certification
  • Impeccable grooming and presentation
  • Completely fluent English language skills, both written and verbal 
  • Clear, precise, professional and helpful telephone manner
  • Knowledge of organizing reservations and service flows
  • Driven and focused on maximizing capacities
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritise
  • High level of responsibility and commitment
  • Team player with proven success in relationship building
  • Commitment to providing excellent service and exceeding guests' expectations
  • Comprehensive and current knowledge of local attractions, events, restaurants and transportation information
  • Ability to anticipate  guest needs
  • Experience with OpenTable is considered an asset
  • Physical ability to perform the requirements of the job, including:
    • Continuously stand and walk for extended periods of time
    • Performing repetitive work
    • Lifting and carrying

NOTE: The position of Host is physically demanding.  The successful applicant must be physically capable of standing/walking for 90% of shift, performing repetitive work, as well as lifting and carrying heavy loads.
