About the role:
We are building and expanding the Exadata Cloud Services in the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and the next generation cloud support experience to go with it. As our cloud services continue to grow, we are growing our team of energetic, customer-focused site reliability engineers (SREs). Our team performs an operational role in supporting Oracle’s Exadata Cloud platforms. Oracle Exadata is a full-stack solution that improves the performance, scale, security, and availability of an enterprise’s Oracle databases. Blending traditional roles of system administration, database engineering, and cloud disciplines, you’ll be part of a team that supports this amazing machine. 


The team is responsible for managing the Oracle's Exadata Cloud Service Fleet consisting of thousands of Exadata racks. You'll be part of a team of experts who build, operate and maintain large fleet of Exadata racks. You will provide support for implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of Exadata Infrastructure in the cloud. Responsibilities include managing  Exadata system infrastructure and processes related to these systems including day-to-day operation, monitoring,  troubleshooting and problem-resolution. 


As part of the broader engineering organization, you will act as the voice of the customer to influence product features and plans to improve customer experience. This role is integral to the success of our customer relationships and is critical to the success of the platform.


Responsibilities:
Drive and actively participate in the resolution of complex technical issues spanning Oracle Exadata Cloud Service and Exadata Cloud @ customer Systems and work towards ensuring highly scalable service under strict SLAs 
Design, automate, deploy, and maintain Oracle Exadata Cloud Service and Exadata Cloud @ customer Systems
Act as a trusted technical advisor to customers and solve complex infrastructure and DevOps challenges.
Create and deliver best practices recommendations, sample code, technical documents.
Work collaboratively with development team to define infrastructure and deployment requirements
Troubleshoot systems and provide problem resolution
Script and automate any routine manual systems tasks
Be available to participate in on call rotation
Contribute to making our infrastructure simple, reliable, and easy to operate.
Define and develop monitoring infrastructure criteria (SLIs, SLOs) for the cloud services.
Solve complex and difficult problems and build automation to prevent problem recurrence.
Conduct periodic on call duties
 
Requirements:
At least a bachelor’s degree, in Computer Science, MIS or another technical field, or equivalent work experience.
Advanced Scripting/coding skills (Shell, Perl and Python) . Knowing C/C++ and Java is nice to have.
Experience in Building and managing Linux OS systems with good understanding how the Linux kernel works (IO, Network,…etc).
Experience in Building and managing Virtualized systems (KVM, OVM, Containers/Docker) and ability to read and understand source code.
Experience troubleshooting complex software and/or networking issues.
Strong understanding of distributed computing, cloud concepts and platforms.
Very strong analytical skills to identify problems root cause
Experience with Oracle databases including RAC, Data Guard, Oracle GI (clusterware, ASM), RMAN preferred.
Experience with Oracle Exadata strongly preferred.
Experience in cloud technical support, operations, NOC or similar is preferred, but not required.
Proven ability to quickly learn new technical domains and then train others.
Great verbal and written communication skills.

Define, design, and implement network communications and solutions within a fast-paced, leading edge database/applications company.

Responsible for creating and implementing system enhancements that will improve the performance and reliablility of the system. Manage the load configurations of a central data communication processor and make recommendations for purchase or upgrade of data networks. Coordinate terminal orders and cable installation, network system planning, upgrading, monitoring, testing, and servicing. Approves action requests and specifies purchase requisitions. Negotiates and places orders with common carriers. May play a team leader role for developing System Administrators.

Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Eight years of related experience in a medium to large network distributed and computing environment. BS in Computer Science or related field.
