Job Description

Oracle has a large community of Hub-Based Solution Engineers across Europe that on a daily basis engage in tasks such as\:

 

·       Product presentations & demonstrations

·       Advice Customers & Partners on how to best use Oracle products/solutions 

·       Respond to tenders 

·       Interact with product development about new releases, new functionality

 

As a Solution Engineer you have the chance to develop in a very broad spectrum, ranging from product expertise, Customer interaction, communication and general IT market knowledge. Successful Solution Engineers are highly demanded individuals with the possibility to develop a career in many different IT (and non-IT) functions. 

The Solution Engineering Hub (SEHub)  is tasked to support the EMEA & APAC Field Presales in a diverse number of ways from regional hubs. These range from answering RFx/tenders, creating DEMOs, sizing Solutions, or creating Business Cases. 

In the SEHUB Systems Team we are looking for former DBAs who are willing to take on the challenge of building excellent product knowledge (Oracle Systems Portfolio) and to combine this with a good commercial sense, clear communication while working in an international environment.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES\:

 

On a day to day base you will work closely with the Field Presales teams across countries in EMEA and APAC. The tasks delivered by you, the SCC Consultant will be focused on\: 

 

·       Responding to technical queries support on a range of issues such as answering product questions, creating content and documents for Oracle potential/existing Customers, researching a product topic or competitive product and other tasks that support the Field Presales, our Customers and Partners.

 

·       Providing Presales support to RFI’s, RFP’s, RFQ’s, PQQ’s, etc.; answering to tender specifications and compliance matrixes.

 

·       Sizing Hardware Solutions and working closely with other Specialists in providing Solutions based on Customer requirements. Creating a Total Cost of Ownership Calculation for that Solution

 

·       Building Demos to show our products and features, Workshops to help partners and customers understand our products better, POC’s to help the customer understand how the product works with a real set of data. 

·       A significant portion of your time will also be used to stay up to date on the latest product releases & Oracle’s strategy. This is done through Oracle’s well-known self-study, online trainings and classroom trainings which can help you in your career growth, expand your product knowledge and validate your expertise to give you an edge in the IT industry.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS\:

 

To fulfill the role of Presales Consultant we are looking for individuals that match the following profile\: 

Technical\: 

  • Good understanding of the IT market & trends. 
  • Technical/IT education, university degree 
  • Works in an IT related role today (preferably Systems related)
  • Former Oracle Database Administrator experience (including backup strategy, disaster recovery planning, upgrade and migration procedures)
  • Good understanding of standard systems architecture which involve Oracle database (single-instance, RAC, multitenant, etc.)
  • Ability to interpret AWR reports and do diagnostic checks based on database metrics
  • Awareness of Oracle Database's new features and options, in order to provide insightful information towards improving the client's current implementation
  • Experience in working with monitoring, replication and data integration tools
  • Infrastructure experience, basic knowledge in networking, storage and UNIX-based operating systems.

 

Non-Technical\: 

·       Good communication skills, able to articulate messages very clearly. 

·       Openness to work with different languages & cultures (you will support EMEA and APAC) 

·       Results orientation, you won’t be satisfied until the job is done with the right quality! 

·       Ability to work in (virtual) teams. To get a specific job done often requires working together with many colleagues spread out in different countries 

·       Self-motivated, you have the natural drive to learn and pick up new challenges 



Other 

·       Work experience in a similar role is an advantage

As a Staff Sales Consultant you will be responsible for providing presales technical / functional support to prospective clients and customers while ensuring customer satisfaction. Develop and deliver high quality standard Oracle presentations and demonstrations. Present and articulate Oracle product*s strengths, features, benefits, and competitive advantages. Design, validate, and present Oracle software solutions to include advanced product concepts, future direction, and 3rd party complimentary products.

Duties and tasks are standard with some variation. Completes own role largely independently within defined policies and procedures.3 - 5 years business experience preferred; vendor experience also preferred. 3 years relevant computer applications or database/tools preferred. Demonstrated proficiency in one multi-user operating system. Knowledge of system and application design preferred. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills. Ability to travel as needed. BA/BS degree or equivalent preferred.
