Job summary
Amazon Web Services (AWS) seeks a creative, self-motivated, high-judgment, well-connected, and experienced public relations professional to drive communications programs for its growing portfolio of Database, Data Analytics, and AI/ML in Greater China. The right candidate possesses extensive media relations experience, is an expert at translating complex technology concepts into broadly digestible stories, has experience with reputation management, and can exercise high-judgment while acting quickly.

The AWS PR Manager will be able to work locally, regionally, globally, and cross-functionally with AWS senior executives, service, business, public policy, legal, and marketing teams to develop and execute messaging, PR strategy, and innovative communications tactics. This particular role is focused proactively driving awareness of our Database, Data Analytics, and AI/ML services and earning media coverage. The ideal candidate enjoys diving deep into technology and is motivated by a dynamic, highly creative culture where the challenge of breaking new ground and redefining best practices is welcome. In this role, the candidate will have an opportunity to innovate new and interesting communications and influencer relations strategies. The candidate must be comfortable working sensitive issues and successfully communicating with the media on issues that can impact AWS’s reputation.

The ideal candidate will develop programs to strengthen AWS’s innovation and technology leadership position through new service launches, and awareness programs for existing services to highlight AWS’s broadest and deepest functionality, and the fastest pace of innovation, by driving sustained, well-messaged, and compelling stories of what sets AWS apart from other cloud providers.

Key job responsibilities
• Define, develop, and oversee end-to-end execution of PR strategy and programs to proactively drive awareness for AWS Database, Data Analytics, and AI/ML services
• Work cross-functionally to plan and execute PR campaigns
• Be in charge of the tech related contents in customer/industry PR and corporate PR
• Be the go-to-person for service organization as PR consultant, collaborate with them to prioritize the key technology themes where AWS wants to establish and maintain leadership in GC, and develop key messages and narratives to articulate our offerings and differentiators
• Work effectively with Seattle-based PR teams to ensure global consistency and standards are maintained
• Ensure a consistent, high-impact and factually accurate representation of an expanding portfolio of AWS services in technology press
• Develop and strengthen relationships with key journalists, bloggers, and evaluators in technology trade and business press
• Support development and execution of events and media engagements
• Manage complex, fast-moving, and unexpected communications challenges with high judgment and professionalism
