Your Role and Responsibilities

Currently we are looking for Windows Packaging Specialist to join Platfrom Management department.

Managed Mobility Services (Platform Management) is a rapidly growing department within the IBM. Our core activities are divided among three service lines: Software packaging, Software distribution and Image management. Software Packaging team is responsible for developing software applications packages (automated software installation packages) helping companies maintain a stable desktop environment. As a member of the Packaging Team you will be able to cooperate with people around the World facilitating state of the art technologies. The Software Distribution team is responsible for executing the tasks required to automatically deploy (distribute) software packages, updates and/or patches to devices within a customer environment. The Software Distribution team uses a variety of tools to perform the electronic software distributions and also must perform detailed problem determination in order to repair and/or rerun any failed electronic distributions. The Software Distribution team must also produce detailed reports on the results of work. Imaging team is responsible for creating and maintaining Operating Systems images (Deployed as unattended installations). The part of the maintenance is preparing hardware specifications and ability to build hardware platforms in both physical and virtual configurations. Imaging team also prepares Operating System customizations (OS configuration, installed applications) according to customer requirements through registry modifications & custom scripts. Role in each of those requires a certain set of skills, however some of them are common across the competencies.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• knowledge of Windows system architecture and administrative tools (especially Windows Registry, File System)
• understanding of Operating Systems, especially Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10
• basic knowledge of programming and scripting languages
• knowledge of hardware related operating system configuration
• quick-learning
• excellent teamwork skills balanced with ability to work alone without any supervision
• strong problem solving skills
• self-motivation; customer oriented; ability to work under pressure
• English - communicative

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience

• knowledge of MSI package technology or any of the packaging tools (Admin Studio, InstallShield, WISE Package Studio, InstedIT etc.)
• knowledge of VBScript, AutoIT, PowerShell
• understanding at least one of the Enterprise Software Management Tools (SCCM, Altiris, IEM)
• general knowledge of T-SQL (queries creation)
• basic knowledge about Active Directory and Group Policy
• good working knowledge of office tools (e.g. Excel) for collecting and editing distribution results
• understanding problem and change management tools and procedures (ITIL)
• advanced knowledge of Microsoft Windows 7, Microsoft Windows 10
• knowledge of PowerShell scripting
• basic network troubleshooting skills (TCP/IP)
• understanding of patch management tools such as WSUS
• knowledge of imaging technology or any of the imaging tools (SCCM, MDT)
• English - fluent
