Job Purpose:

The Quality and External Manufacturing Technologist position is an essential position in Mars Fishcare ensuring all relevant Mars Q&FS standards are implemented and continuously improved to assure quality and product safety and compliance, protecting the consumer and our brands.  Responsibilities span site Q&FS, external manufacturing (EMQM) and supplier quality assurance (SQA).   This role also helps the sites overall compliance program for FDA pharma products.  Priorities are established based on the needs of the business unit. 

 

What we are looking for:

Minimum Requirements:

  • A BS degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Engineering or related technical field
  • 2+ years of experience in a technical area such as R&D, product development, laboratory management, quality management systems, and/or food process engineering
  • Basic understanding of regulatory compliance to FDA Standards

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree
  • Previous auditing experience

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the site based internal audit program to ensure all processes and procedures are managed in accordance to corporate Quality and Food Safety Standards, Business Unit QFS directives and FDA regulations.
  • Back up for the PRIMP incident owner
  • Facilitate the corrective and preventative action programs in compliance to MARS QMP standards.
  • Member of the Food Safety Team, back up team leader
  • Facilitate compliance to the Business Unit microbiology testing program including site data analysis, reporting and recommendations on site improvements and or escalations for non-compliances.
  • Responsible associate for the sites hold management systems (Nexus ) ensuring requirements and procedures including product disposition and destruction
  • PRIMP team member, responsible for quality inputs needed for root cause analysis session for product related incidents (PRIMPS) and make recommendations to correct issues.
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement.
  • Conduct analysis on consumer complaint trends and recommend actions for improvements
  • Provide training on relevant food safety standards to supply associates.
  • Lead the consumer and customer complaints investigations process ensuring follow up in appropriate timings and recommend actions to site QFS mgr.
  • Must be able to effectively manage the External Manufacturers remotely
  • Create an aligned/ harmonized QMS process for External Manufacturing in the Mars Fishcare Segment
  • Define the road map that will lead to full compliance to our global and regional standards
  • Qualify new external manufacturing locations against the global EMQM standard through preliminary, qualification, start-up and compliance audits.
  • Define and drive the implementation of QMS as needed to ensure compliance to global EMQM standard
