WHO YOU'LL WORK WITH
You will be based in Tokyo, Japan as part of an international team of UX designers and researchers. You will work closely with product teams, subject matter experts, and stakeholder across Oracle's Global Business Units (GBUs) to ensure the best experience for our customers.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
You will lead the preparation, execution and analysis of ux research activities. This will include user interviews, usability testing, surveys, expert interviews and contextual field studies across all stages of product development.
You will build consensus among stakeholders on research objectives and the most appropriate approach to deliver the desired outcomes. You will set up and manage panels of research participants (both in Japan and overseas), ensuring that both users and subject matter expertise are well represented. You will craft research deliverables that translate complexity into actional insights and ensure user needs are reflected throughout all communications.
As a member of the go-to team for all things ux research related, you will coach and empower the people around you throughout the research process. You will also improve team understanding by preparing and facilitating workshops that exemplify design thinking principles.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING ON DAY ONE

A degree in design, psychology, anthropology, human computer interaction or a related discipline

6+ years experience applying user research in a b2b product environment

Language proficiency to conduct user research in both Japanese and English

Demonstrated success applying research insights that inform the design of products throughout the entire development lifecycle

Hands on experience with design thinking, ethnographic and mixed-method research

The ability to tell the user story, and clearly and concisely communicate complex problems to stakeholders of varying seniority

A systemic and structured approach to research

A willingness to contribute to the creation of research resources
As a member of the User Experience team, you will develop and apply software design/usability processes in the investigation of technical problems. May develop user profiles, with emphasis on human error control, display issues, visual interaction, physical manipulation and task and objective analyses. Provide product usability, evaluation and support to product development teams, including the analysis and investigation of applications/systems including tactile methods, visual graphics, web, multimedia, voice response and conversational user interaction. May assist in developing design concept and implementation, providing input on user design considerations. May produce specifications describing user needs and internal structures for product in development.
Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. Typically seven years of software engineering or related experience needed.
