Job Description

The Greater China tax team is a key part of Oracle’s world-class operation and is closely integrated with tax organization headquartered in the US.  We are looking for a highly motivated individual to be part of the team covering tax compliance for Greater China entities.  This role will be reporting to Senior Tax Director, Greater China region.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Oversee the indirect tax and direct tax compliance work for all entities in Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, except for Taiwan indirect and WHT compliance
  2. Take lead to make necessary compliance process improvement corresponding to the enhancement of risk control, the change of local tax legislation, new business initiatives/development, global reporting requirements, etc.
  3. Manage various questions from local tax authorities in relation to tax filings
  4. Provide tax advice and support to business partners to ensure tax compliance
  5. Coordinate with relevant team members to support global compliance projects, Group reporting and HQ reporting requirements
  6. Provide support from compliance side to Planning projects, audit/enquiry cases, when needed
  7. Coordinate with external tax advisor and relevant internal stakeholders to set up appropriate tax compliance work plan and process and make necessary improvements

 

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  1. Minimum 9 years tax experience obtained working as a full time tax professional for multinational companies or accounting professional firms.  Experience in multinational companies and Big Four is more preferable.
  2. Significant tax and financial knowledge and experience in the area of direct taxation, together with an understanding of the interaction with indirect taxes;
  3. Thorough knowledge of business controls in a tax environment;
  4. Thorough knowledge of tax accounting in Group Accounts;
  5. Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously;
  6. Sound judgment and good interpersonal skills;
  7. Comprehensive understanding of Oracle financial accounting and reporting directives;
  8. Strong communication skills and can demonstrate necessary authority in different situations; and
  9. Strong sense of responsibility, proactive and dedicated.

 

COMPETENCIES

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Tax;
  2. Qualification of Certified Public Accountant or Certified Tax Agent – preferred
  3. Fluent in PRC tax regulations, tax practices and accounting principles; and
  4. Fluent in English, written and oral.

 

Manage and coordinate internal and external resources to implement company tax savings strategies. Ensure accurate and timely filing of tax returns. Manages a professional staff.

Be an integral partner in Oracle's business decisions to enhance shareholder value by providing tax-related advice globally to all business units. Develop and implement systems to compile information for various federal, state, local, and international reports. Represent the company on tax matters in government, professional, and industry associations. Performs or directs research; analysis and interpretation of federal, state, and local statutes. Manages and oversees international tax laws and regulations. May be involved with tax implications of mergers and acquisitions.

Assists in the development of short, medium, and long term plans to achieve strategic objectives. Regularly interacts across functional areas with senior management or executives to ensure unit objectives are met. Ability to influence thinking or gain acceptance of others in sensitive situations. Maintain current knowledge of all tax laws affecting Oracle. Strong business and tax technical skills needed. Detail oriented, analytical, and able to manage multiple tasks in a fast paced environment. Ability to work with outside advisors. Experience with computer tax systems. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated leadership and project management skills. Experience in public accounting firm and/or high technology industry. BA/BS in Accounting or Finance. CPA and or MS/MBA tax preferred.
